“Love Above Ground”, Molly Diana

Artist Statement

"My work explores the relationship between Heaven and Earth and the space between them that holds both form and force, body and spirit. The series, LOVE (perhaps), is about the omnipresence of the night sky and dreaming, spiritual guidance or influence, and our human resistance to and projections of love. At night, with all of the lights and distractions turned off, we are free to explore our private selves. Adding an element of transparency to this experience implies a deeper looking into our inner selves, a sliver of illusion, where nothing is as it first appears, and yet implores us to trust our own instincts."

Love Above Ground: This sculpture is made of 1 inch thick transparent acrylic panels. Each piece has been painted with acrylic and appropriately weatherproofed for 4 seasons. They have been painted to resemble the omnipresence of the sky while also representing a crystalline form emerging from the earth. There are small sections that remain unpainted and transparent to the reflection and interests of the natural lights influence.
